A remote hike, and although the trek is along the shoreline and flat, the walking surface is all rock. Over 4 miles of undeveloped State Park shoreline, this stretch will set you in remote land. For rock hounds, the general rule of thumb… The farther you walk, the better your chance of finding big ones. Upon arrival to Norwood Township Park, consider your parking options as follows. If in a car, park at the Norwood Park. If in a SUV, you can drive a ways along the seasonal road and find one of the few roadside parking spots. If in a monster truck, you may make it to Whiskey Creek.
Discovery Pier offers cultural discoveries, flanked by West Grand Traverse Bay. Choose walking or bicycle access from TART, and peruse the outdoor and indoor opportunities. Historic vessels abound, offering a fine ride aboard the Tall Ship Manitou. Let the nautical feel overtake you, as you enjoy your day on and around Discovery Pier.
