The Little Traverse Wheelway is a 26-mile paved trailway that runs from Charlevoix to Harbor Springs. The trail corridor is primarily separated from the roadway, with short sections of shoulder riding. Situated along Lake Michigan, with stops in Charlev. Rent a bike from Bahnhof Sport, Touring Gear, High Gear Sports & Latitude 45 Cycle and a few more places. The ride is approximately 27 miles.

A great loop to experience the Little Traverse Wheelway and the North Western State Trail. The section of Conway Road has 1-2′ wide shoulders. Traveling clockwise is recommended, but either direction suits well.

Petoskey South Bicycle 1

Starting in the city of Petoskey, head South along the Bear River Valley. Depart River Road to the West on Springvale Road, arriving in the Village of Walloon for refreshments and provisions if needed. The route follows the shoreline of Walloon Lake, then separates from the waterfront for a distance, and back along the water at Indian Garden Road. Many views of Walloon Lake present themselves along the corridor before the final departure from the waterfront on Northbound Lake Grove Road. Conclude the ride on the little Traverse Wheelway, passing by Bay Harbor and parallel with the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

Petoskey bicycling is highlighted on the Little Traverse Wheelway, which runs through Bayfront Park on the Little Traverse Bay. Riding inland, the multi-use trail along Bear River provides beautiful serene scenery, with a return trip circling back through the neighborhoods of the city.
