Driving in Boyne City presents itself to many beautiful views of Lake Charlevoix. Lakeshore Drive is open to the water for slow and stress-free driving roadway. The residential roads on the South side of town have beautiful homes flanking the roadway, with the North side an easy drive to Young State Park.
Bicycling in Boyne City is the gateway for long rides along the shores of Lake Charlevoix, on good roads with shoulders. The less energetic alternative is a jaunt around town through the lakeview neighborhoods and multi-use trail on the South side of town.
A great loop to experience the Little Traverse Wheelway and the North Western State Trail. The section of Conway Road has 1-2′ wide shoulders. Traveling clockwise is recommended, but either direction suits well.
Petoskey maintains a downtown character that provides both historic and Lake Michigan scenery. Walking through the streets and waterfront park will provide you plenty of art, and you may stumble across a few of the stones that Petoskey shares the same name.
Walking around Petoskey is most enjoyable along the waterfront with a beautiful marina, Bayfront Park scenery, and the mouth of the Bear River. A walk along the multi-use trail or riverside path on the Bear River enhances the waterfront experience. The downtown is a multi-block district with numerous shopping and dining options.
