A walk through downtown Empire is a quaint experience from the massive breadth of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The stroll leads to the Lake Michigan shoreline for a beautiful park setting and the beginning of a long lakeshore walk. Along Lake Michigan, massive dunes and long remote stretches of sandy shoreline await.
Driving through Empire is a nice community within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore tour. Swing through the neighborhoods South of town, through downtown, and out to the Lake Michigan shoreline at the park with beautiful views from your car.
Empire is the anchor for the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and offers good Northern Michigan biking in the small community. Pedal around the neighborhoods on the South side of town, then through downtown, ultimately heading toward the Lake Michigan shoreline and waterfront park.
Walking in Beulah is highlighted by a stroll along the Betsie Valley Trail and the waterfront of beautiful Crystal Lake. Return back to city center and continue your journey along the lakeshore to the North, then circle back through the downtown.
Bicycling around Beulah begins at the Betsie Valley Trail parking area. The trail runs along the shoreline of beautiful Crystal Lake, and the roadways to the North offer additional views of the shoreline. Lake Street is one-way Northbound for cars.
Driving in Beulah exhibits its most prominent feature as the lakeshore roadway along beautiful Crystal Lake. It’s a short drive to circle back around along Frankfort highway, then meander through the shoreline residential areas and back down along the quaint downtown.
